I spent part of Saturday taking shots around the campus...

I spent the Saturday afternoon wandering the campus and the James Turrell exhibit at the Pomona Gallery and taking pics of the campus.  James Turrell is also redesigning our courtyard at Harper Hall.  I'll post some of his works later.  Very cool stuff.

President Ronald Reagan Library-Oval Office

This is the layout and furniture from the Oval Office while Pres. Reagan was in office.  If you recognize the desk it's because it is the same one with the famous picture of John Jr. Kennedy crawling through with his father in the background.  Note: the middle panel was added to hide Franklin D. Roosevelt's wheelchair.  The desk was made of timbers from the H.M.S. Resolute, an abandoned British ship discovered by an American vessel and returned to the Queen of England as a toke of friendship.  Queen Victoria commissioned the desk out of the retired timbers and presented it to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880.

Things going well so far

On the way home...
I'm just passing the midpoint of the new work week at CGU. Much better weather than Chicago and everything has been going great so far and it's been a week of transition and discovery. Classes start next week and I've made my rounds with the IT staff and CGU administration. Faculty return next week and I hope to have time to meet with all the department heads to strategize where improvements can be made. I've got lots of new ideas and improvements in mind. Standardization and documentation of processes are on the top of my list. It's been wonderful weather and friendly people helping me along the way.

Best wishes to all,
Travis

Arrived in California!

I'm all moved in with the basics and checked out some open houses today in the foothills around Claremont, San Antonio, Upland, and Rancho Cucamonga. Another awesome sunny day of 73 degree weather and no clouds.

The trip out was easier than I expected. I had great weather and great luck with getting hotels that took a dog for cheap! I did something not of my nature and did not plan my exact route or where I would be stopping--no lists, no reservations, no plan--Just Head West!--WOW!

Here are some pics of the trip out along Route 66 from Chicago to California and the view around my apartment. There are over 450 so I'll only post a few.
